VH1’s Hit the Floor Season Finale Surges in Ratings
VH1’s Hit the Floor had 2.4 million total viewers (1.1 million in the key 18-49 demo) tune in for its second season finale (surging surging 26 and 38%).
Nearly 2.5 million viewers tuned in to find out the answer to the season-long mystery: Who. Killed. Olivia? Was the identity of the killer a surprise to you?

In related news: You can expect much more Hit the Floor in 2015. VH1 announced two weeks ago that the soapy basketball drama will be returning for a third season. Hit the Floor‘s season two was the number one ad-supported cable scripted drama among women 18-49.

The series has pulled impressive ratings during the first two seasons, finishing as the #1 new scripted series of the summer on cable among Adults 18-49 in its debut season and currently ranking as the #1 ad-supported scripted drama on cable among women 18-49. Season 2 of Hit the Floor was a magnet for fans on social platforms, consistently ranking amongst the Top 10 most social shows on TV Monday nights on Twitter.
“Hit The Floor delivered again with fantastic ratings and social media engagement in season two, especially among women,” said Susan Levison, EVP of Original Programming & Production for VH1. “We look forward to seeing what kind of trouble the Devil Girls will get into next season.”

Disney Channel Renews Girl Meets World
Cory, Topanga and middle schooler Riley will be back for more adventures and life lessons! The Disney Channel has renewed Girl Meets World for a second season.
Girl Meets World is a spin-off of the fan favorite 90s sitcom Boy Meets World. Boy Meets World followed the lives of Cory (Ben Savage), Topanga (Danielle Fishel) and their friends and family as they grew up together. Savage and Fishel reprise their roles as Cory and Topanga in Girl Meets World as the parents of middle schooler Riley (Rowan Blanchard).
Developed by Boy Meets World creators April Kelly and Michael Jacobs, Girl Meets World has become the No. 1 TV show among Kids 2-11, Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14 since its June 27 premiere on Disney Channel.

Shemar Moore Returns to CBS’ The Young and the Restless
Shemar Moore’s Malcolm Winters is coming home to Genoa City this fall. The Criminal Minds star will return to his daytime television roots when he reprises his fan favorite role on CBS’ The Young and the Restless.
Unfortunately for the hardcore fans… Malcolm’s homecoming will be a short one. Moore will appear in just two episodes, which will air on Wednesday, September 10 and Thursday, September 11.
Shemar Moore: “I am excited about returning to The Young and the Restless as a special guest. This is where I got my start, and I am looking forward to reuniting with my soap opera family.”
Moore originated the role in 1994 and played him until 2002. He then returned for a brief stint in 2004-2005 before joining Criminal Minds.

Syfy to Air Spartacus Reruns
Syfy has acquired all four cycles of Starz’s Spartacus saga, to begin airing this summer on the basic cable channel.
The syndication deal includes all three seasons of Spartacus — subtitled Blood and Sand, Venegance and War of the Damned — as well as the Spartacus: Gods of the Arena prequel miniseries that aired between Seasons 1 and 2.
Spartacus will make its Syfy debut on Thursday, June 26.

Showtime Renews Penny Dreadful for Second Season
Showtime has renewed the sexy, supernatural, Gothic horror series Penny Dreadful for an expanded second season.
The series’ sophomore season will run 10 episodes, up two from the show’s freshman run of 8.
Showtime president David Nevins released the following statement:
Picking up Penny Dreadful was one of the easiest decisions I’ve made. [Series creator] John Logan has deftly created an epic series that has drawn raves from a wide-range of audiences from quality drama lovers to critics, to hardcore genre fans.
Season two will premiere in 2015.

FXX to Air Every Episode of The Simpsons in 12-day Marathon
FXX announced last week that it will air all 552 episodes of FOX’s The Simpsons over a 12-day period (from August 21 through Labor Day).
FXX acquired the off-network rights to The Simpsons last year. The new network is planning to air a four-hour block of reruns every Sunday, and will make the episodes available on the app FXNOW.
