Fan Favorites Returned on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.; New “Formidable Alien” Role Cast
We hope you stuck around for the post-credits scene on the most recent episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. because you were treated to not one, but TWO incredible throwback returns. Ruth Negga and David Conrad returned as our favorite “Girl in the Flower Dress” Raina and Ian Queen, respectively.
Earlier in the episode we also got major callbacks to Dr. Franklin Hall and his trip into Gravitonium. It appears as if Dr. Hall can communicate through anyone that is exposed to the highly volatile substance.
But back to Raina and Quinn…
In a season filled with spectacular callbacks and cameos to characters and storyline threads from S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s five year history, this has to have been the most surprising return of the season. Not only did we get some amazing camera time with our girl Raina, but we finally got the answer to a question that has been bugging everyone that pays a modicum of attention: What Happened to Ian Quinn?
Well it turns out he acquired Gravitonium at some point during / after the Season 1 finale. Or I should say… Gravitonium acquired him.
That scene was originally shot for ep 122 and cut out from the ep. It was brought back here.
When I read the script I sat for a moment & was – Huh, this is so familiar like dejavu. I'm like, hey I've already broken this SC down before in S 01! https://t.co/EWu7Mh8Bsm— Mark Kolpack (@MarkKolpack) April 7, 2018
In related S.H.I.E.L.D. news…
Legend of the Seeker villain Craig Parker has been cast in the role of Taryan, a “formidable wheeler-dealer from another planet”. Parker will debut towards the end of Season 5.

Marvel’s AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Headed Towards Season Six Renewal
So it appears as if the superhero series with the “small, but active fanbase” (per Agent Melinda May) just might live to see Season 6. There are strong rumors circulating the interwebs that ABC is heavily leaning towards renewing Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Although the showrunners have already gone on record stating that they have crafted the Season 5 finale as a potential series finale and the show is definitely on the bubble, MovieTVTechGeeks cites three different sources from ABC, Disney, and the show’s production stating that the series will continue on to a sixth season.
Fans of Agents of SHIELD can breathe a little easier as ABC is already making plans for season 6 which will be announced in May in time for the finale #Marvel #Disney https://t.co/RhdChDEfCb via @movietvtechgeek

Disney doesn’t want to lose another Avengers connection on network television. With the upcoming season 5 finale coming in May, expect a season 6 announcement which should give diehard fans some good news.
An official confirmation (if it occurs) will (more than likely) happen in (or just before) May when ABC holds its Upfront Presentation.
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs Fridays @ 9pm ET on ABC.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Debuts New Characters for New Season
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is back next month for Season 5 and with it some new faces!
In this season, Coulson and the team take on a new setting and new characters on their way to space.
At the end of last season, we saw the crew celebrating after saving the world with the help of Ghost Rider. The celebration didn’t last long, however, as it was interrupted by a mysterious man and an elite squad. Next thing we see, Agent Coulson is aboard a ship, in space.
In this season, we will see new characters such as Deke (Jeff Ward), Tess (Eve Harlow), Flint (Coy Stewart) and Grill (Pruitt Taylor Vince).
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns Friday, December 1 with a special two-hour premiere (8:00-10:00 EST) on ABC.
Here’s the first look at the new characters we can expect to see this season.
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 5 Might Premiere Mid-November
On early Sunday, ABC Chief Channing Dungey was asked about Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s premiere date, and the answer surprised many fans who thought the show wasn’t coming back until January 2018.
“It’s going to come on right after Inhumans, as soon as the eight episodes of Inhumans is done, then S.H.I.E.L.D. will begin,” Dungery said during the Television Critics Association press tour.
Now, Inhumans is set to show its first two episodes on IMAX theatres on September 1, and later premiere on ABC on September 29, which means the season could end on November 10 if there are no breaks. Therefore, the fifth season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. could very well premiere as early as November 17.
However, according to Comic Book Movie, it’s more likely that ABC will actually stick to that January 2018 date, so the show can run uninterruptedly.
Marvel’s ‘Inhumans’ Confirmed to Have an ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Connection
During SDCC, the upcoming Marvel’s Inhumans released a second trailer, but also screened some scenes from the season premiere for the fans present at the con.
According to Comic Book Movie, one if these scenes features the royal family acknowledging the events of season 2 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. by discussing the spread of Terrigen in Earth’s water supply.
Marvel’s Inhumans is set to show its first two episodes on IMAX theatres on September 1, and later premiere on ABC on September 29.
