American Gods Announces New Media Role
TVLine reports that the Starz series American Gods will add the role of New Media in the upcoming second season.
The show is looking for a 20-something, Asian woman to play the new series regular, which symbolizes the role of social media in modern American life (the same way that Gillian Anderson’s Media represented television and pop culture in Season 1).
Production on American Gods‘ sophomore season is scheduled to begin in May.

Gillian Anderson to Leave X-Files After Season 11
As the 10-episode season return of X-Files draws near, fans can also prepare to say goodbye to the beloved Dana Scully.
Gillian Anderson raised suspicion back in October at New York Comic Con about her departure from the show, but in a recent interview with TV Guide she confirmed this will be her last season.
“I’ve said from the beginning this is it for me,” said Anderson. “I was a bit surprised by people’s [shocked] reaction to my announcement because my understanding was that this was a single season.”
Fox has not committed to any other seasons after the 11th, however series creator Chris Carter insists to TV Guide that he did not craft the last episode as a series finale. “There are a lot more X-Files stories to tell,” he said. “Whether we get to tell them is a question mark.”
The series returns Jan. 3 @ 8/7 c.

The X-Files Recruits Carol Banker and Holly Dale to Direct in Season 11
The X-Files had a bit of a rough time in June when it was revealed that all 10 episodes for their upcoming season would be written by men. The show experienced a lot of social media backlash, and even Gillian Anderson (Agent Dana Scully on the show) criticized the decision.
Now, according to TV Line, it was announced that two episodes of the show’s eleventh season will be directed by women.
One of them is Carol Banker, who already has a history with the franchise. She was a script supervisor from 1999-2002 and was a director on The Lone Gunman.
They also recruited, Holly Dale, a very experienced director who’s worked on TV shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Timeless and Reign.
The X-Files is expected to come back on early 2018.
