Star Trek: Discovery : Harry Mudd Returns in Episode 7
Star Trek: Discovery will see the return of a most unwelcome guest in this week’s episode.
Harry Mudd (Rainn Wilson) was re-introduced into the franchise’s universe last week, but he is back again this week in an attempt to learn the secrets of the ship’s spore drive.
In an exclusive video of the upcoming episode, Mudd can be seen sitting in engineering at the controls of the drive. He asks Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and Lt. Tyler (Shazad Latif) to save time and simply tell him how the drive functions. The computer lets Burnham and Tyler know that the drive is approaching an overload and will soon destroy the ship. Burnham says that he is mad, to which he replies, “No, I’m Mudd.”

Star Trek: Discovery is an upcoming TV series and the first to be developed for CBS All Access. The show was announced late 2015 and it is the first Star Trek series since Star Trek: Enterprise.
The show will be set around ten years prior to the events of the original 1960s Star Trek series. It delves into the Federation-Klingon cold war and focuses on Michael Burnham, the first officer of the USS Shenzhou and later the USS Discovery.
Talent involved:
Behind the camera:
The show was created by Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman who are producing alongside Akiva Goldsman, while Gretchen J. Berg and Aaron Harberts act as showrunners.
Cast:
- Sonequa Martin Green as Michael Burnham: Our main character and first officer of the USS Shenzhou, she’s referred to as “Number One.” She’s supposed to be Spock’s sister, raised by Sarek in Vulcan. Showrunners already established that Michael’s backstory will be explained in a way that would not break canon.
- Terry Serpico as Anderson: A Starfleet admiral.
- Maulik Pancholy as Nambue: Chief Medical Officer of the USS Shenzhou.
- Sam Vartholomeos as Danby Connor: Described as “a Starfleet through and through” by Vartholomeos, Danby is a junior officer in Starfleet Academy assigned to the Shenzhou.
- James Frain as Sarek: A younger version of Spock’s biological father and Michael’s stand-in father, previously portrayed by Mark Lenard.
- Shazad Latif as Ash Tyler: Described by Latif as “a very complex and painful and deep character.” Ash is a Starfleet lieutenant and former prisoner of war.
- Doug Jones as Saru: The first Kelpien (species created for the show) in the Starfleet, Saru is a lieutenant aboard the Discovery.
- Michelle Yeoh as Philippa Georgiou: Captain og the Shenzhou who maintains a close relationship with Michael.
The cast also includes Chris Obi, Mary Wiseman, Rainn Wilson, Jason Isaac, Wilson Cruz and more.
Release:
Star Trek: Discovery will air its first two episodes on CBS September 24. After that, the show will run on CBS All Access in the U.S. and on Netflix for the rest of the world.
The series will consist of 15 episodes and there will be no standalone episodes. The season is split into two chapters, with the first chapter finishing on November 5, 2017, and the second chapter beginning in January 2018.
