Midnight, Texas: “Lemuel, Unchained” Sneak Peeks
Angels, vampires, psychics, witches, assassins, racist biker gangs, ghost grandmas and a talking cat! Welcome back to Midnight, Texas.
The cast of NBC’s sexy supernatural summer series attended San Diego Comic-Con a couple of weeks ago. TVLine sat down with the cast and chatted with the cast about what’s to come.
Here are two sneak peeks from episode three titled “Lemuel, Unchained”:
Midnight, Texas airs Mondays at 10pm/9c on NBC.
Supergirl Scoop: #Karamel & #Sanvers
The president of The CW defended Supergirl Season 2’s introduction and heavy involvement of love interest Mon-El on Wednesday at the Television Critics Association summer press tour.
After network chief Mark Pedowitz alluded to MIA Mon-El’s return at some point in Season 3, the TCA member who had asked him the question at hand opined, “Nobody wants that.” To which the network boss promptly replied with a smile, “I think people would disagree with you on that.”
Pedowitz went on to tell TVLine that he keeps an eye on all of his shows and “I understand there is some backlash to [Mon-El]. I am a big fan of Chris Wood and Melissa [Benoist], and they get along great. And you know what, it’s the right way to tell a story.”
But what about Sanvers? Especially since Floriana Lima dropped to recurring status after being a series regular.
At the Television Critics Association summer press tour showrunner Greg Berlanti was asked by TVLine if Lima’s new contract status would be perceptible to viewers. He answered with, “I don’t think so. Any character people love is not there as much as people want them there. [But] from my perspective, we will use her as much as we can. She’s wonderful on the show, and she’s got some real ardent fans, as she should…. We wanted more of her, but she’s got other things in the hopper, other things she wants to consider. We’d love to have her back as much as possible.”
Supergirl returns Monday, October 9 at 8/7c on The CW.
Black Lightning‘s Location Confirmed
While The CW’s latest superhero series Black Lightning might not be set in the Arrowverse (yet), we do have confirmation on the actual city location of the new series.
Black Lightning will be set in Freeland, a fictional city. The television series is filming in Atlanta.
Developed by executive producers Salim and Mara Brock Akil, alongside Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter, Black Lightning will showcase battles that are even more grounded in social justice than when Jefferson Pierce debuted as one of DC’s first African-American heroes in 1977.
Topics tackled by the series will include Black Lives Matter, race relations and police brutality. “This is an American story, this is not a black story… We’re going to be culturally specific, but universal in our themes so everyone can see themselves in these stories,” said Salim Akil in an EW interview.
In the interview they also discussed if crossovers with other CW DC series could occur.
One of the things that Black Lightning will do, and Jefferson will do, is be able to introduce the humanity of the people who are caught in these communities. So I didn’t want to distract from that, and I didn’t want to distract from us getting to know Jefferson, Jennifer, and Anissa, or Black Lightning, Thunder, and Lightning. I wanted people to get to know them first.
Now, you know, everything is possible. But hopefully this season everybody will just get to know them and get to respect them and accept them for who they are before we start making other moves.
But will there be crossover potential?
Yeah, I’m not opposed to it at all.
Black Lightning premieres in 2018.
Looks Like Iron Fist and Luke Cage Won’t Start Their Relationship in The Defenders on Very Good Terms
It seems like Luke Cage and Iron Fist won’t be quite the BFFs we love from the comics at the beginning of Marvel’s The Defenders.
Actors Mike Colter (Luke Cage) and Finn Jones (Iron Fist) teased during last week’s San Diego Comic-Con that the two superheroes won’t have the nicest first meeting.
Jones said he thought their interaction was surprising, “everyone knows us as being BFFs and actually the first time we see each other there’s conflict, and it grounds and roots the characters into reality a little bit better, which I think is really interesting.”
Colter added that he thinks the way they first interact is due to the fact that the two characters come from very different paths. He said: “I think it’s just one of those things where Luke has the advantage of years of experience. He’s a little older than Danny, he’s sort of been around, done that. He’s been in prison! He’s got some miles, he’s got some experiences… I’m from the streets, and that’s where we operate.”
It seems like an interesting change from the comics.
Although if you think about it, Iron Fist did punch Luke Cage in the face in the first trailer for the upcoming serioes.
Marvel’s The Defenders is set to air all its eight episodes August 18 on Netflix.
Game of Thrones‘s Hot Pie Sells Direwolf-Shaped Loaves IRL
WARNING: Spoilers for Game of Thrones Season 7 ahead.
Fans of Game of Thrones in the U.K. had a chance to try that delicious bread Arya love made by Hot Pie himself.
In anticipation of last Sunday’s episode, “Stormborn,” Ben Hawkey, the actor who plays Hot Pie on GoT, partnered with Deliveroo, a London-based food delivery service to open up his own shop.
The online shop was called “You Know Nothing John Dough” (because of course it was), and it was selling direwolf-shaped loaves for £1.
Hot Pie made a surprise appearance on last weeks episode, followed by the comeback of Arya’s long-lost direwolf, Nymeria, so the loaves came at a very convenient time.
There was no physical location for the bakery, and unfortunately, the window for orders has already closed.
Hawkey said via High Snobiety:
“Hot Pie’s Direwolf loaves are a favorite for Game of Thrones fans, and people are always asking me for the secret of my recipe. I can’t share that, but Deliveroo customers will have the chance to try them themselves. You don’t even need to take a dangerous walk down the King’s Road to visit, it comes to you.”
Are We Going to See Darth Vader in the Han Solo Movie?
A report has come out by Jedi News saying that the actor behind Darth Vader’s mask in Rogue One, Spencer Wilding, was supposed to attend a fan event un Kentucky (Fandom Fest).
It was said, however, that the actor could not attend the event due to the filming of the “newest film in the Star Wars Universe.”
The event’s website released the following statement:
Spencer Wilding will be unable to attend as he will be filming the newest film in the Star Wars Universe. Spencer will be coming back next year.
There’s only one Star Wars movie currently in production, and that is the Han Solo movie, which would mean that’s the movie Wilding is filming.
However, as Comic Book Movie reported, this doesn’t mean the actor will be portraying Han Solo. Wilding is a special creature performer with an extensive resume that includes Game of Thrones and Guardians of the Galaxy, so he could be playing any other character.
Once Upon a Time Season 7, Episode 3 Cryptic Title Revealed
Adam Horowitz has taken to Twitter once again to announce a Once Upon a Time season 7 title, this time we have episode 3.
Here's another #OnceUponATime #titlespoiler — hope to see ya 10/6 for season 7! pic.twitter.com/c6o9pXZw1i
— Adam Horowitz (@AdamHorowitzLA) July 25, 2017
The episode will be called “The Garden of Forking Paths.”
Huh?!
In the past, the episode titles in the show usually drop hints about what the episode will be about, and this is certainly no exception.
Fans have already speculated that the title refers to Cinderella’s decision in the garden to either stay home or go to the ball, therefore is just a way of saying the episode is going to revolve around Cinderella.
“The Garden of Forking Paths” is actually the title of a short story by Argentinian author Jorge Luis Borges about a Chinese spy for the German Empire during WWI.
In the story, Borges says that the “Garden of Forking Paths” is the name of a Chinese novel, which would represent Time.
Have you come up with any theories?
Once Upon A Time returns Friday, October 6 on ABC.
Once Upon A Time Showrunners Explain New Curse
The times they are a-changin’ on ABC’s Once Upon A Time. The series will feature a massive time jump and a brand new location for its upcoming seventh season. But not only will our favorite characters survive the time jump and new location… they will also have to deal with a brand new curse which will be much harder to break free from.
The new curse is set by the series’ new villain Lady Tremaine (played by Gabrielle Anwar). “As often is the case on Once Upon A Time, there’s more than meets the eye to what we know about the character. Lady Tremaine doesn’t like Cinderella very much and she’s got an agenda. But there is something broiling beneath that’s personal and painful that is driving all of this,” says executive producer Adam Horowitz to EW.
“She’s somebody who wants to get to the top and will use any means necessary. So why it’s important for her to be royal, why it’s important for her to crush everyone else, is the story of the year. In true Once Upon A Time fashion, evil isn’t born, it’s made, and we’ll see that with her as well,” added executive producer Edward Kitsis.
As expected, the new curse has created a Storybrooke-esque town called Hyperion Heights in Seattle, Washington (aka the Land Without Magic). But don’t consider this town Storybrooke 2.0. Lady Tremaine has thrown in a twist. “We’re going to see in Hyperion Heights that the role Lady Tremaine has taken is very similar in terms of getting to the top, in terms of being a developer, who is this character who is trying to push out the fairy tale characters who are living in Hyperion Heights, gentrifying the neighborhood and bringing other people in,” says executive producer David H. Goodman.
Horowitz: “We’re in a city now. Hyperion Heights is part of Seattle the way Brooklyn is part of New York. It’s more densely populated and it’s filled with fairy tale characters and non-fairy tale characters and that’s another interaction and vibe that we didn’t really have in Storybrooke, where it was all the cursed people.”
And the Tremaine twist is: “Lady Tremaine learned the lesson that Regina didn’t, which is don’t keep them all together where one day they can find themselves, push them the hell out! You push them the hell out and you gentrify the neighborhood and you bring in a cold press juicer and they can’t afford it anymore, then you won’t worry about the Pied Piper finding, you know, Alice,” added Kitsis.
[WPGP gif_id=”6321″ width=”600″]
Goodman: “[Lady Tremaine] is sort of Regina-prime and she’s trying to figure out a way to scatter these fairy tale characters to the wind so they can’t be together, because as we’ve always seen, when these characters get together, they always figure out how to beat the bad guy. Not giving anything away what the curse is, but she’s learning and standing on the backs of these other curses that have come before her to be as effective a villain as possible.”
But wait… Lady Tremaine has the power. Lady Tremaine is separating the fairy tale characters. So is it official that she cast the new curse?
Kitsis: “We said very clearly in the pilot of Once Upon A Time that Regina cast the curse. What you’ll see this season is we don’t necessarily say that in the premiere.”
So, who cast the new curse?
Once Upon A Time returns Friday, October 6 at 8pm/7c on ABC.

Midnight, Texas: “Bad Moon Rising” Sneak Peeks
Angels, vampires, psychics, witches, assassins, racist biker gangs, ghost grandmas and a talking cat! Welcome to Midnight, Texas.
The first episode of the supernatural mystery aired earlier this week. TV Guide interviewed showrunner Monica Owusu-Breen to discuss what’s going to happen next.
Here is an excerpt from the interview:
Bobo took the fall for Aubrey’s murder! That’s not right, what’s next for him?
Monica Owusu-Breen: That storyline gets resolved in the second episode. It appears to be resolved in the second episode, I should say. We wrote a pilot and it was with the intention with the murder mystery guiding the entire series. When the pilot was shot, the network came to me and said, “Murder mysteries are done in a lot of shows. Can this be a supernatural show, with supernatural villains coming in and out of this world?” [NBC wanted] to really hit that.
So like every show, we’re sort of trying to figure out what we really are. So I went off and thought about it, and thought if I couldn’t do a supernatural show in a town like Midnight, I should hand in my Writers Guild card. So what begins as a murder mystery, you’ll see in Episode 2 opens up a bigger mystery and a bigger obstacle for the Midnighters and for Manfred (Francois Arnaud) specifically.
So the murder mystery won’t be the main thread of the season?
Owusu-Breen: No, that’s Bobo’s (Dylan Bruce) story. Every character has their own story, and the murder mystery and the fallout from that is Bobo’s story more than it is the story of the town.
Manfred is our window into this world, but soon he’ll have to be more proactive in the show. What drives him later throughout the series?
Owusu-Breen: I think what’s interesting about Manfred is that he’s a guy who’s used to running from things. I mean he grew up in gypsy caravan and he’s traveled the world, and whenever there were problems he and his grandma would leave. So the idea of committing to home and committing to a community is one sort of obstacle for our character Manfred who is not used to being alone. But I don’t think humans were meant to be alone, I don’t think we function well alone. For Manfred too, it’s about finding that community and place, where he is willing to take charge, and to lead, and to fight and to risk his own safety for this group of people who he will grow to feel a part of.
Okay, now we have to talk about my favorite character. There are so many supernatural characters, and you’re introducing all these different types of beings, and then, out of nowhere, we get a talking cat!
Owusu-Breen: Mr. Snuggly!!! I will describe it — because this show is wackadoo. I love wacky, I know I love it, I hope we find an audience who is as enamored with this crazy universe as me. When I read the books, I remember Mr. Snuggly was just always around, and then midway through the books or three-quarters through the books, he starts talking. But by that point he had been around often enough and the world had gotten nutty enough it was like, of course the cat talks. it kind of made sense in that weird Charlaine-inspired supernatural universe that of course a witch would have a familiar, and of course that familiar would have a voice. It’s a polarizing figure [laughs] but it makes us laugh.
Here are four sneak peeks from episode two titled “Bad Moon Rising”:
Midnight, Texas airs Mondays at 10pm/9c on NBC.
