Ian McKellen Interested in Playing Gandalf in Lord of the Rings TV series
Sir Ian McKellen played the beloved wizard Gandalf in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, but is his time as Gandalf over?
McKellen was a guest on the Graham Norton’s BBC 2 Radio show and the host asked McKellen, “Amazon are doing a TV series of Lord of the Rings. Now isn’t that annoying? That there’s going to be another Gandalf in town?”
To which McKellen replied, “What do you mean, another Gandalf?”
“I haven’t said yes because I haven’t been asked,” the actor continued. “But are you suggesting that someone else is going to play it? Gandalf is over 7000 years old, so I’m not too old [yet].”
The Amazon series will not be an adaptation of the JRR Tolkien’s original novels. Instead, it will be set before the events of the first novel, The Fellowship of the Ring, and tell a new story based on Tolkien’s other Middle-earth writings.

The Star Wars Universe Welcomes a New Live-Action TV Series
From movies to TV, Star Wars is getting a live-action series that is set to debut on Disney’s digital streaming service. The still un-named service is set to launch in 2019.
This is the first live-action TV series for Star Wars, however, the franchise has created five animated series. These include Star Wars: Droids, Star Wars: Ewoks and the most recent, Star Wars Rebels.
In light of the new Disney streaming service, Disney will be taking all Marvel and Star Wars films off of Netflix and move them to the in-house streaming service in 2019. The pricing for the service is still being worked out, but the plan is to make it lower than the price of Netflix, which is currently $11/month for a standard plan.
