TBT: Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealer
Do you remember Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealer?
It’s probably an appropriate time to revisit the Rainbow Brite character after the recent Rainbow Brite-ization of the X-Men characters started trending on social media websites and blogs. Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealer marked the feature film debut of the Hallmark Cards character, as well as the only film to feature her.
Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealer was released in theaters on November 15, 1985. It was distributed by Warner Bros., and produced by DIC Entertainment and Hallmark Cards. The character had also appeared in a few television specials prior to the film’s release.
In her debut feature film, Rainbow Brite tries to bring spring to an Earth that is facing a perpetual winter. She must stop a wicked princess who wants all of Spectra, a planet-sized diamond through which all the light in the universe has to go through.
Rainbow Brite was introduced in 1983. She made her television debut in 1984 with a 13 episode animated series. The franchise was rebooted in 1996, 2003, 2009, 2014 and then again in 2015 through Hallmark’s online on-demand streaming video service Feeln. 2015 also saw with it a line of new merchandise sold only by Hallmark online and in its shops.
Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealer is currently available on DVD.
Disney’s Zootopia is an Instant Classic

Disney’s latest offerings— with the exception of lacklustre Pixar collaboration The Good Dinosaur. We’re pretty sure Finding Dory will pick up The Good Dinosaur’s slack— have all been amazing, a constant reminder to people everywhere that they still have a monopoly on making feel-good, so-relatable-it-burns movies that turn into cash-cows and classics alike. Its latest family flick, Zootopia, which has already made bank beyond even Frozen’s record-setting debut, continues the time-honoured Disney tradition.

The Simpsons Predicted a Broncos vs. Seahawks Super Bowl in 2005
Apparently the folks in Springfield on FOX’s The Simpsons can see the future. The show’s official Twitter account shared an image from the 2005 episode “Bonfire of the Manatees” that shows Homer Simpson watching the Super Bowl.
In that episode, the two teams playing in the Super Bowl are the Seattle Seahawks and the Denver Broncos. Nine years later… they are facing off at Super Bowel 2014!
The real test as to whether or not The Simpsons can see the feature is if the final score ends up coming true. On the animated series, the Broncos won with 19 points to the Seahawks’ 14.

Disney Plans Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers Feature Film
Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers is heading to the big screen!
Director Robert Rugan pitched a live-action feature to Disney, and they gave it a thumbs up! The film is being planned as a live-action/CG hybrid. Mandeville Films (The Muppets, Muppets Most Wanted) is attached to produce the film, which is in early development.
Chip ‘n’ Dale first appeared in a 1943 animated short starring Pluto, and went on to appear in 22 shorts stretching into the mid-1950s where the duo either annoyed Pluto or antagonized Donald Duck. In 1989, the characters were revamped (fedora-wearing Chip and Hawaiian shirt aficionado Dale) and headlined the Disney Afternoon animated series Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers. The series ran for three seasons and 65 episodes from March 4, 1989 – November 19, 1990.
