REVIEW: Once Upon A Time, Episode 704
Once Upon A Time is back with another episode, the fifth of this seventh season, entitled “Beauty”, and in it, we found out it was time to say goodbye to Belle, unfortunately in a much more permanent way than we were probably hoping for.
In flashbacks, we got to see Belle and Rumple’s story unfold and get to a finish line. Rumple realized he wanted to be free of the dagger once and for all, making him a mortal, so he could live a peaceful and finite life with the people he loves the most: Gideon and Belle. Belle managed to find a prophecy, which mentioned the Edge of Realms, so there was exactly where they headed. What Rumple didn’t realize was that the prophecy spoke in metaphors, and “the sunset” wasn’t the one with everyone’s sun, but rather Belle’s life. But before she got to the finish line, they did end up spending some great moments together. But of course, like everyone else, Belle’s life started fading, and it was then Rumple realized the truth.
I thought this really was a beautiful twist, making Rumple believe that he will be reunited with his love once again, because taking leaps of faith isn’t Rumple’s strong suit at all. Rumple had to let her go, but of course not before Belle told him a story: their story. I thought it was so great they put some flashbacks of their highlights through the past few seasons. To be honest, I was never much of a Rumbelle shipper, because I hated that Belle always put faith on Rumple only to come out disappointed, over and over again. But this episode really made me start liking their relationship so much more. It really was a good ending for Belle’s character, and I feel like this is an ending Emma should have earned too.
In present day, it was Halloween in Hyperion Heights, and since I found this out I was very excited because we never really got a themed episode (expect for 112, when it was Valentine’s day in Storybrooke). I was glad the story continued to focus on Rumple’s journey in the new timeline, but in this new city, we saw Rumple through Tilly. Since we saw her in the premiere, I loved her character immediately, so I was glad we saw a lot more of her this time. We found out Tilly’s curse works a little differently from everyone else, since she only doesn’t remember when she takes her pills. Fortunately, in this episode she forgot about them, taking Weaver on an adventure, which, I am almost sure, led him to remember everything. After Tilly shot him, I saw a glimpse of recognition in his eyes. Then there was that scene in which he saw Belle, and he didn’t seem to be confused, which means he must have recognized her. And for the great finale, there was of course, that scene with Victoria, in which he practically screamed he remembers everything now. Of course he didn’t say anything, because he loves to play a long game, and he would never reveal himself just because he felt like it.
In the meantime, Roni convinced Henry to put the past behind him, by telling him that moving on doesn’t mean he has to forgot about the past. Taking it from the expert in this matter, since all her lovers end up getting killed, Henry decided to take her advice, and almost asked Jacinda on a date. Of course that before he had the chance to, he was interrupted by Ivy saying she lost Lucy. Henry went searching for his own daughter, even he didn’t know it, and while he did, he even started bonding with Ivy. As we have always learned from this show, “Evil isn’t born, it’s made”, so Ivy is no different. She is mean like that, because the person who is closer to saying they love her, is Victoria, so she feels like she has to please her and do everything she says. Happily, she seems to be getting a little less mean, and that is probably because she found herself a friend. What I didn’t like about this, was that I think I could smell a love triangle taking form, and I want Henry to be with Ella.
There is also something I noticed was interesting, therefore I think it is worth mentioning. It is just a detail, but there is where the devil lies, so here it goes. After Rodgers came out of Weaver’s hospital room, he started talking to Tilly, and a moment after that they were playing chess. Want to guess what was the first piece Rodgers moved? That’s right, a tower. Could this mean she really is his daughter? Maybe, but for me this is more proof she isn’t. The writers of this show usually don’t do obvious, since there has been some really cool and jaw dropping moments throughout the show, so maybe what they are trying to do is push the fans to thinking Hook’s daughter is one person, before revealing the shocking truth. One can hope, right?
Overall, this was a really great episode, the best one of the season so far in my opinion. I really loved how Belle’s story ended, and all of the memories from the flashbacks, when she was telling their story, just made it so much better. And now that Weaver (possibly) remembers, Victoria should really watch out. I am giving this episode an 8.9/10.
Next episode is entitled “Greenbacks” and it will be Tiana’s centric. In it, we will meet Dr. Facilier. There will also be a very shocking revelation (which you can check in the amazing and very frustrating promo), so don’t miss it.
REVIEW: How to Get Away with Murder, Episode 405
How to Get Away with Murder continues this new season with its fifth episode, entitled “I Love Her” and it focused on the relationship between Bonnie and Annalise.
Not all episodes of this show have flashbacks, but when they make them, they are usually great, and this time was no different. We saw how Annalise met Bonnie, and it really was in surprising circumstances. Who would have guessed they were “enemies” before all of this? Annalise eventually found herself in a hard situation, not knowing if she should keep working for her jerk and totally guilty client and have a great future ahead of her (professionally anyway), or drop him and do the right thing. I don’t think it was much of a surprise at all that she fired herself and went to help Bonnie, but it was still nice to watch them start bonding. It was even better to know that Annalise was the one who convinced her newest friend to become a lawyer. Who knew that two women who found themselves in opposite sides of the same game would become good friends and mold each other’s lives, right?
Even though they really are friends, as I just said, that is definitely not what it looked like for most of the episode, because they found themselves in the opposite sides of the same game again. Annalise continued to work in her class law suit, by starting to gather signatures from some of Virginia’s old cases. She pretty much gave the same speech to all of them, but because it was working, why would she change it? She even made some new friends out of old enemies, and close to the end of the episode she got all 40 signatures she needed. Even though it didn’t last long, it was still amazing seeing her happy, because that hasn’t happened in a while.
While Annalise was working on her signatures, Bonnie was trying to find out a way to end her class action suit. She didn’t get many luck in the beginning, but she eventually found something which helped her, and started offering Annalise’s new cases a better deal, making them withdraw from Annalise’s side.
In flash forwards, we also saw Bonnie with Isaac, and these were really some great scenes. Hopefully, that will make Bonnie change her mind. I am not saying she needs to help her friend, since they have very different jobs now, but she should at least stop trying to ruin it. But it was still so satisfying for some reason seeing Bonnie say “I love her” repeatedly, because we all know that is what they feel for each other (especially after the flashbacks of this episode) even though they never admit it. This scene was yet another proof that the cast of this show is really fantastic. Always has been, always will be.
At the same time, Connor was definitely feeling down, probably still thinking about what his father told him in the previous episode, and he almost cheated on Oliver. I am very glad this didn’t happen, of course. I think Connor obviously loves Oliver very much, he simply has been feeling down lately, with dropping school and all that. But happily, instead of going to this other random guy, Connor went Annalise’s hotel room. This was after she felt the loss of a lot of signatures, so she wasn’t very happy either. In a really great moment, Annalise invited Connor to join her in the law suit. I was really happy when this happened, not only because we will get to see Annalise work with one of the Keating 4 again, but also because this may be exactly what Connor needs to get back on track: a motivating job to do.
In the meantime, Michaela and Oliver continued their mission to search in Tegan’s files for something on Laurel’s father. It took them some effort to find something, but not too much. After all, this is Oliver we are talking about. They did find something very interesting, which they will certainly use. What I didn’t like about this was that Michaela has been lying to Asher. Before the episode ended, I was not very happy with how they have been sidelining him since pretty much since the beginning of this new season, but now I think we will start seeing a lot more of him. This because he found out Michaela is up to something. I bet he will think about everything except for the actual truth, but that still means he will be back. Another thing that made me realize this was the very last second of the episode, when we found out, through flash forwards, how he is the suspect in whatever happened at Michaela’s new firm.
This was, as always, a great episode. I really liked the Bonnie/Annalise connection scenes, and it was even greater they made it stronger and still not put the two of them in a lot scenes together. The new mystery is getting very weird and also very close, so I really can’t wait to watch more. I am giving this episode an 8.6/10.
Next episode is entitled “Stay Strong Mam”, and in it we will finally know a few things more about Isaac’s past, so stay tuned.

RECAP: Scandal‘s Final Season, Episode 1
Shonda Rhimes has done it again, airing out the seventh and final season of her hit TV show, Scandal.
On October 5, ABC launched the final season of Scandal, giving viewers a taste of what’s yet to come. The first episode is called ‘Watch Me’, and in case you missed it, I would stay clear of this recap.
With a little drama and excitement, the season started like no other. With Luna Vargas dead, Mellie Grant, Cyrus Beene, and everyone’s favourite, Olivia Pope, manage to make their way into the White House.
With Mellie as POTUS, Olivia Pope is her Chief of Staff, giving her all the power to work her way into DC. This episode didn’t disappoint as Olivia Pope is still her manipulative, power hungry self. She can be seen blackmailing a Senator into giving back a positive response on the free education bill, something Mellie had been cooking up in previous seasons.
OPA, or now QPA, which stands for Quinn Perkins and Associates, is seen scrounging for clients, slowly taking in that since Pope moved on to the white house, a lot of old clientele has vanished. Huck, Charlie, Abby, and Quinn, are given a case when Madeline Stewart needs help locating her father.
It had been a while since he contacted Madeline, leaving her confused and worried over his whereabouts. Jake Ballard, Director of the NSA and Oliva’s former flame, looks into her father only to find out that he’s a CIA agent who helps the Nation by working undercover. Ballard suggests that the only way to help out is to kill him, as theirs a possible risk of getting caught by a terrorist.
But just like clockwork, Olivia Pope cooked up another plan which saved Madeline’s father instead of ending his life, despite Jake’s protest.
Cyrus, Vice President of the United States, is still seen slithering around as he meets up with Senator Diane Greenwald to talk about the Vargas bill. Of course, she disagrees and tells Cyrus that he should start to figure out his future presidency, instead of always being under Olivia and Mellie.
The episode ended with Mellie and Ambassador Marachi, as they have a reunion to discuss the American assets being kept in Bashman.
It’s exciting to see where this season will take us. Until then, grab your favourite wine, a white hat, and tune in next time for another episode recap!
REVIEW: How to Get Away with Murder , Episode 404
How to Get Away with Murder is once again back, this time with the fourth episode of the fourth season entitled “Was She Ever Good at Her Job?”, and for that question, I can only find one answer: “She still is, people”.
The episode kicked off with Annalise starting to prepare for her class action suit, when she realized she needed one thing (we all do actually): money. Since her bank account has definitely seen better days, she got to the conclusion she really needed to find a job. That was when she went to Soraya Hargrove to pretty much beg for one. I have to say that I really didn’t expect her lawyer to be Tegan, but it was definitely great seeing Annalise and Michaela in the same room again, and even better to see the looks on their faces when they saw each other. This team is definitely one of the best teams on the show already. I knew since the previous episode that Tegan really was a badass in court, so when a badass joins two more of their kind, everyone else can do nothing but to get out of the way.
And get out of the way was really something Hargrove’s husband should have done. Bad luck for him. The new badass team couldn’t really accuse him of being unfaithful during the marriage, but they found a few financial frauds he committed, and that was enough to shut him up. Hargrove offered him a few money to keep him quiet, and they now share custody of the children. To make things even better, Annalise earned some money, which allowed her to take another step on the class action suit. I am really looking forward to seeing how far this will go. Hope it is far enough to make a few changes. I know this is fiction and it won’t actually change anything in the real world, but maybe making us see she did it, could make us feel like we can too.
Meanwhile, Laurel started working in the DA’s office, and Denver was definitely not happy about it, but I really loved how quickly Bonnie made him shut up. Laurel started doing a little digging and found out that Denver and her father are still involved in some dark businesses. Her father is sponsoring his campaign for attorney general, but through a dead guy who used to work for him. Of course it doesn’t help knowing that guy disappeared under mysterious circumstances. There is definitely something very weird happening there, and with Michaela’s help, they will definitely take him down in an instant.
In the aftermath of last episode, Connor had to deal with his dad. Connor mentioned many times he was just there for the money, but I didn’t really see why Connor disapproves of him so much. That was of course until his dad started saying that Oliver isn’t the guy for him. This is definitely one of the most stupid statements made on this show. How dare he say that? He met Oliver for 5 minutes, and he just says something like that? If Connor thought he could do better, he wouldn’t be in that stage of the relationship. That is because neither Connor nor Oliver can find a better match, because they are perfect for each other. They complete each other. As I said, if I didn’t know why Connor hates his dad, I definitely found out near the end of the episode and I am totally joining the club.
At the same time, Bonnie also started digging into Virginia’s cases, to try to get one step ahead of Annalise. She really is taking this very seriously. So seriously, that she started scheduling appointments in Isaac’s office. There is a line that, after crossed, is considered to be going too far, and that was the line Bonnie crossed in this episode. But speaking of Isaac, he really is acting more and more weird, because he said that maybe it is better for him that Annalisa doesn’t talk about Wes. I think this might actually have a reasonable explanation. Maybe he was once in a similar situation and is still struggling in a way. Anyway, I hope we find out soon enough.
In flash forwards, things definitely got bloodier, and Oliver was a witness of another crime/accident (probably the first though). Maybe because that was in Tegan’s firm, I think she will be the casualty, which would be a shame, but definitely better than another member of the Keating 4, like last season.
Overall this was another great episode. It continued the kick ass ladies, Laurel is one step closer to exposing her dad and Asher is still being Asher, and doing nothing. I am giving it an 8.7/10.
Next episode will air next week, and it has as a tittle “I Love Her”. Prepare to be shocked, because apparently there will be a major breakthrough in the flash forwards, so you really can’t miss it.
REVIEW: Once Upon A Time, Episode 702
Once Upon A Time is back again with the second episode of this requel entitled “A Pirate’s Life”, and in it, Emma Swan’s story was, unfortunately, wrapped up, in what I thought was a satisfying way.
In flashbacks, we saw a glimpse of young Henry about to leave home, and being trained by Hook so that he succeeds in all the adventure he puts himself into. Hook even gave him a little magic which turned out to be very useful. I am liking the fact they are setting young Henry to do these little introduction scenes, because it reminds me that the Henry we see in later flashbacks and also in Hyperion Heights, is the same one we have been seeing for the past 6 years, he simply grew up. Even though the two actors kind of look alike, it isn’t always easy to remember they are the same character, and, it may sound silly, but this helps.
In flashbacks to the new parallel world, the story continued very closely to where it left of, with Henry trying to find Cinderella. Before he was captured by Lady Tremaine, he managed to ask for the help of Regina, Hook and Emma. But, maybe because one Hook wasn’t enough to help Henry, another one followed, the Hook we saw in the eleventh episode of last season, the one from the world the Evil Queen created with her wish. For me, the weirdest part about him, was that he knew Tremaine already. I am sure we will find out how this came to be.
In what was a great twist, we found out Wish Hook has a daughter. In the scene in which he kind of described what happened: a girl in a prison guarded by a witch, it all screamed Rapunzel to me. And since we know Rapunzel is going to be on the show later on (if you didn’t know, you do now), I think maybe she could be it. It also made sense he came: he thought Emma could break the curse the witch put on him, preventing him from rescuing his daughter, so that he would have her back.
But let’s now get to what mattered in the episode: Emma. I think this was a great ending for her and for Captain Swan. I was a bit upset that the Hook from Hyperion Heights isn’t our Hook, but then I realized we could never have a happy ending for Captain Swan and also have our Hook in the new city at the same time. It was either one or the other, and I am glad they decided to end Emma’s story right. And it was even greater that she is pregnant. Of course, it would be better if Emma stayed, but they did the best they could in this circumstance and I am happy they didn’t ruin the happy beginning they got in the end of last season. They both went back to Storybrooke, leaving Wish Hook and Regina to help out Henry. It is just a shame we won’t see Emma and Hook raise their child, but maybe they will be back eventually.
In present day, Rodgers started working with Weaver, and we found out that from Rumple to Weaver, the only things which changed was the name and the closet, because everything else is still there: he is self-centric, manipulative, a powerful man… overall, he is Rumpelstiltskin, and that apparently will never change. I am glad Rodgers didn’t listen to much of what he said, and also didn’t frame Henry for some stupid bracelet theft. But of course that, even in failure, Weaver prevailed, and told Victoria he doesn’t work for her, like that was his plan all along.
In a much more pleasant storyline, I am definitely liking Henry and Jacinda/Cinderella, more and more. They really make a great couple, and they did evolve their relationship a little bit more in this episode. And apparently, I am not the only one shipping them, because, even though Henry denied it the best way he could, Sabine knows there is something between the two of them, and I hope she helps Lucy when she decides to play match maker, which I am sure she will.
In another storyline, Rodgers wanted answers about Emma, and Henry really couldn’t help out much about that. It felt weird his curiosity about Emma after we found out that wasn’t our Hook, but that was addressed in the final scene: Rodgers still remembers when Emma saved his life. He remembers it in his own version, of course, but he knows Emma was the woman who gave him a second chance, and for that he will forever be grateful. In the end, Roni, Rodgers and Henry decided to join forces and will now start to take Victorian Belfrey down. With these 3 working together now, she really doesn’t stand a chance.
Overall, this was a great episode. It was Jennifer Morrison’s last one, at least for a while, and of course I will miss her Emma, but it was a great ending for her story, as I said before. I am giving this episode an 8.6/10.
Episode 3 of this new season will air next week and it is entitled “The Garden of The Forking Paths”. The promo really reminded me of the fifth episode of the first season, when Henry went in the mines, because apparently Lucy will also risk her life to make her father believe everything she says is true. I hope the episode brings something refreshing and new, instead of making a copy of that episode with different characters. My fingers are crossed, but I don’t think they would do that.
REVIEW: How to Get Away with Murder, Episode 403
How to Get Away with Murder is once again back with this third episode of the season entitled “It’s for the Greater Good” and things really continued to get very interesting in it.
After winning Jasmine’s case, Annalise decided to continue working for free, this time for the government’s defense team, getting some cases from the very busy lawyers. This week featured an old case about Ben Carter, a man who was accused of murdering his wife, while he says she killed herself. What I am liking more about this new season is that it feels very real. Twelve years earlier, Ben was sent to jail mostly because of his appearance: he had tattoos all over his body. This can’t really be called racism, but it actually isn’t very far from it, because people think those with tattoos must be murderous or bank robbers. The point is, this is still a today thing, and that is what I loved most about it.
But this really wasn’t the only real problem in the episode. Annalise did win the case, but by doing so, she “exposed” the fact that, because the lawyers there are always very overwhelmed, a huge piece of evidence was overlooked: a tape of Ben’s wife clearly jumping to her death. There is really no need to say if this was found 12 years before, Ben would have never gone to jail. But of course, his lawyer at the time, Virginia, didn’t have time to review all the tapes, therefore he was sent to prison. At first, I didn’t understand Annalise’s need to expose Virginia in court, but I was glad this allowed her to prosecute the justice department. I think everyone can related to this, because we all know, not just lawyers, but most people who work for the government, have always many work to do and are very underpaid. Sure, it was mean what Annalise did this, and maybe this will get nowhere, but it was still a necessary thing to do. Like the tittle of the episode says, it was for the greater good.
In kind of a side note, I was really upset to see what happened to Jasmine. I guess Annalise was right, and drug addicts don’t change. I really thought she would put the past behind her and start living a new life. So much for nothing.
Speaking of terrible life choices, Connor decided to drop out of law school and pass most of the episode spending the money he got back. I really do pity him because he is definitely a brilliant guy, he simply doesn’t often realize it. Sure, he didn’t get any internships last episode, but like I said on my previous review, he really didn’t put much work into it, at all. He has been a little lost during this new season, and I really hope he finds his way back. Apparently, his dads are in town, so hopefully they will put some sense into him. I do understand what he meant about people needing to support his life choices, and I agree, but not when people make silly mistakes like this one. He clearly loves law school, so why is he walking away?
After starting to settle in, in her new company, a game between interns started for Michaela. As usual, she nailed it, and I was so glad to see her beat Simon Drake. He is such a jerk and really pisses me off every time he shows up. It was definitely very satisfying seeing Michaela put him in his place. I also liked her lawyer choice. I think the two of them will do great work together.
Laurel in the other hand, after letting her internship fly away, started looking for another one, and since no one would take her, she tried to convince Bonnie to do it. When she didn’t agree, she convinced Frank to convince her. I am glad she got this now, because life really hasn’t been fair to her, and she needs something to take her mind of things.
In flashforwards, things continue very confusing. We saw Michaela in a nursery asking “is he dead?” to Annalise’s therapist. Since we found out Laurel’s baby is a boy, maybe she was worried about him? Or maybe this is what they want us to think. I really am looking forward to finding out more about this. How to Get Away with Murder really does know how to make a person eager to watch the next episode.
Overall, this was another great episode. As I said already, it felt very modern and grounded. I really hope this season at least remains this good. I am giving this episode an 8.9/10.
Next episode is entitled “Was She Ever Good at Her Job?” and it will air next Thursday, so don’t miss it.
