REVIEW: How to Get Away with Murder , Episode 404
How to Get Away with Murder is once again back, this time with the fourth episode of the fourth season entitled “Was She Ever Good at Her Job?”, and for that question, I can only find one answer: “She still is, people”.
The episode kicked off with Annalise starting to prepare for her class action suit, when she realized she needed one thing (we all do actually): money. Since her bank account has definitely seen better days, she got to the conclusion she really needed to find a job. That was when she went to Soraya Hargrove to pretty much beg for one. I have to say that I really didn’t expect her lawyer to be Tegan, but it was definitely great seeing Annalise and Michaela in the same room again, and even better to see the looks on their faces when they saw each other. This team is definitely one of the best teams on the show already. I knew since the previous episode that Tegan really was a badass in court, so when a badass joins two more of their kind, everyone else can do nothing but to get out of the way.
And get out of the way was really something Hargrove’s husband should have done. Bad luck for him. The new badass team couldn’t really accuse him of being unfaithful during the marriage, but they found a few financial frauds he committed, and that was enough to shut him up. Hargrove offered him a few money to keep him quiet, and they now share custody of the children. To make things even better, Annalise earned some money, which allowed her to take another step on the class action suit. I am really looking forward to seeing how far this will go. Hope it is far enough to make a few changes. I know this is fiction and it won’t actually change anything in the real world, but maybe making us see she did it, could make us feel like we can too.
Meanwhile, Laurel started working in the DA’s office, and Denver was definitely not happy about it, but I really loved how quickly Bonnie made him shut up. Laurel started doing a little digging and found out that Denver and her father are still involved in some dark businesses. Her father is sponsoring his campaign for attorney general, but through a dead guy who used to work for him. Of course it doesn’t help knowing that guy disappeared under mysterious circumstances. There is definitely something very weird happening there, and with Michaela’s help, they will definitely take him down in an instant.
In the aftermath of last episode, Connor had to deal with his dad. Connor mentioned many times he was just there for the money, but I didn’t really see why Connor disapproves of him so much. That was of course until his dad started saying that Oliver isn’t the guy for him. This is definitely one of the most stupid statements made on this show. How dare he say that? He met Oliver for 5 minutes, and he just says something like that? If Connor thought he could do better, he wouldn’t be in that stage of the relationship. That is because neither Connor nor Oliver can find a better match, because they are perfect for each other. They complete each other. As I said, if I didn’t know why Connor hates his dad, I definitely found out near the end of the episode and I am totally joining the club.
At the same time, Bonnie also started digging into Virginia’s cases, to try to get one step ahead of Annalise. She really is taking this very seriously. So seriously, that she started scheduling appointments in Isaac’s office. There is a line that, after crossed, is considered to be going too far, and that was the line Bonnie crossed in this episode. But speaking of Isaac, he really is acting more and more weird, because he said that maybe it is better for him that Annalisa doesn’t talk about Wes. I think this might actually have a reasonable explanation. Maybe he was once in a similar situation and is still struggling in a way. Anyway, I hope we find out soon enough.
In flash forwards, things definitely got bloodier, and Oliver was a witness of another crime/accident (probably the first though). Maybe because that was in Tegan’s firm, I think she will be the casualty, which would be a shame, but definitely better than another member of the Keating 4, like last season.
Overall this was another great episode. It continued the kick ass ladies, Laurel is one step closer to exposing her dad and Asher is still being Asher, and doing nothing. I am giving it an 8.7/10.
Next episode will air next week, and it has as a tittle “I Love Her”. Prepare to be shocked, because apparently there will be a major breakthrough in the flash forwards, so you really can’t miss it.
